Building Restoration Structural Engineer

CDW Engineering, a leader in providing services to the commercial real estate sector is currently seeking a Building Restoration Structural Engineer to join their growing engineering services division.
Reporting to the Project Management and Restoration Manager, the Building Restoration Structural Engineer is responsible for the evaluation, assessment and restoration design work of existing residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Evaluating, assessing and restoration design work of existing residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
  • Managing projects and clients from the conceptual design phase to final completion, including administering contracts under construction.
  • Overseeing quality assurance and quality control procedures for all deliverables, specifically the construction drawings and specifications as they relate to building structures.
  • Conducting Property Condition Assessments and reporting.
  • Producing detailed technical reports and letters describing on site field observations with engineering recommendations and construction cost estimates.
  • Conducting Reserve Fund Studies for condominium corporations.
  • Assisting with preparing client proposals.
  • Assisting field staff and various team members with project execution during all project phases.
  • Assisting with mentoring and training of junior staff.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineer designation with a background in reinforced concrete and steel building structures with an understanding of constructability.
  • A broad knowledge of commercial and industrial buildings.
  • Minimum 5 years of concrete repair and design experience.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code.
  • Previous project management experience.
  • Good report writing and computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, AutoCAD or Revit.
  • A positive attitude and good work ethic.
  • Posses a valid driver’s licence and has access to a vehicle.
  • Willing to travel/work remotely, as required
